Details:
I was shooting this surprise G2 storm under truly horrendous conditions: thick smoke from wildfires, haze, and high cirrus clouds. Despite the adversity, the steady state and solid solar wind did their job well and fired up auroras over upstate New York around 11 pm local time. The moral of the story: what is far worse than smoke, clouds, and the full Moon is my own laziness. This time, I did not let it win. Nikon Z7, 24-70mm f2.8 at 24mm, ISO 4000, exposure 6 sec., WB 4000K.
