Details:
Went out of town to the north to check for aurora activity around midnight local time. Saw a muted green glow on the northern horizon with a bit of movement and some curtains visible. About an hour later, the curtains began advancing from the horizon and displaying more movement. Figured it was worth watching a while longer at that point when columns of light grew to just past overhead and a deep rich red filled the sky in both the northwest and northeast. It was brief, but the naked eye color was incredible. The green aurora curtains were still visible as twilight brightened.
