Details:
Mapping the South Pole of the Moon is of my interest and my project as reported previously here (https://spaceweather.com/archive.php?view=1&day=09&month=04&year=2025) Thus on May 6 2025 I have imaged the Southwestern limb and polar region of the Moon from Rome Italy. In comparison with my previously image (https://spaceweather.com/archive.php?view=1&day=09&month=04&year=2025)the libration was not favourable and some craters are not well positioned (e.g. Amundsen and Faustini craters). I have identified many craters including Shoemaker and Malapert mountain. The Shackleton crater (near the South Pole) is just over the limb (not detected). Libration is an important parameter for the detection of these craters located at the lunar rim. I will do further images of this region for complete map.
