Finally, after a busy week, I got to observe and draw AR 4079. PST 40 /8mm Eyepiece/50X
A variety of pencils and silicone-tipped brushes, plus a touch of white gel pen to highlight the very bright circular flare. (Perhaps an Ellerman Bomb? ) 14:00 UT - 15:30 UT ( 15:00 Local Time- 16:30
LT) There was SO much happening on the solar disc. Lots of jumping filaments, a beautiful large prominence and of course AR 4079. Here in Killadoon, Co Mayo, the drawing began in between clouds. After a while, the gaps became larger and longer, making the task a bit easier. Occasionally, passing thin clouds helped define some shapes in the action.
Active Region 4079 is 140,000 km across.
That small circular flare ⚪️ under the V-shaped plage area was very bright at 14:53 UT. The seeing wasn't as good as I would have liked. However, I was so pleased to observe this enormous AR that I was happy out as they say.
My first thought while looking at this AR was it reminded me of The Scream by Evard Munch 😊
