Details:
During the first half of April more lightning has been recorded in Mutare then at any time approaching the end of a rainy season in the past twelve years! The most recent thunderstorm on the 15th was accompanied three spectacular displays of anvil crawler lightning under a cumulonimbus cloud which had developed above Chikanga Township. This was captured in a video taken between 5.48 and 6.02 pm from which selections of frames have been extracted and used to produce the accompanying real-time, half and quarter speed timelapse animation and three montages. These clearly show the movement of the anvil crawler lightning in the clouds as there was hardly any intervening rainfall. Camera: Tripod-mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40 in sunset video mode.
