Details:
Red Mars at bottom left is here forming a straight line with yellow giant star Pollux (at centre) and bluish-white Castor (at top) in Gemini. Mars was passing below the twin stars in early April in its eastward prograde motion, and happened to form an equally-spaced trio for a few nights in early April 2025. Mars was magnitude +0.6, about a magnitude brighter than the stars. The nearly Full Moon lights the sky deep blue.
Technical:
This is a stack of 4 x 30-seconds at ISO 200, with the Canon RF135mm at f/2 on the Canon R5, and on the Star Adventurer 2i tracker. An additional exposure through a Tiffen Double Fog 3 filter adds the artificial star glows to accentuate the colours.
