Details:
We had a fine show on March 21, 2025 with the aurora underway in the darkening twilight sky, which always produces a more colourful show, as the sunlight hitting the tops of the curtains adds blues and purples. The main show subsided and retreated north by about 10 pm MDT for me in southern Alberta. As the main show subsided I was on the lookout for STEVE as the conditions were ideal for his appearance (a subsiding Kp storm and near equinox) but he did not appear, just his fainter cousin, a dim red SAR arc visible only to the camera. There was a suggestion of a dim band of light visible to the eye, but the camera confirmed it as a SAR.
