Details:
Tonight’s aurora actually caught me by surprise. I saw an article on the Weather Channel indicating there might be aurora activity tonight. I went out and looked up and was quite surprised as the aurora was directly overhead. I ventured out on the Amethyst Bay ice on Lake Superior and it was freaking me out with all the cracking and groans. We have had constant freeze/thaw weather and tonight the mercury was plummeting. It was a nice unexpected display.
