Details:
Splendid weather in and around Montréal for the 2025 March 14 Total Lunar Eclipse: clear skies, calm winds, temps just below freezing, and dry enough so frost or dew was not a concern. This image is a blend of two exposures processed in Lightroom and Photoshop, in an attempt to approximate the visual aspect of the eclipse: The human eye still has a much wider dynamic range than any camera out there, able to see shadow details while not saturating the sunlit areas of the Moon! Tech details: Nikon D5300 body, Explore Scientific 80ED + Nikkor 2x Teleconverter yielding a 960mm EFL at f/12, 1/8- and 1.0-second exposures at ISO 200 in raw mode.
