Details:
On an ice road near Yellowknife, Canada, my visiting nephew Max and I defied the cloudy skies last night and ventured out on the Dettah ice road, in hopes of a break to witness the total eclipse of the Worm Moon.
We were only slightly disappointed. Around 11:30 PM, the clouds parted, and the aurora made a brilliant cameo appearance for a few minutes - as the eclipse approached totality - before the accursed clouds crept in and spoiled the spectacle.
We tried to capture the whole-sky experience - clouds, aurora and eclipse - in a few frames. Full Disclosure - the moon, that little dot in the middle, has been retouched to show its approximate intensity and orangy hue as it entered the Earth's shadow.
Canon 5D MkIV, Canon L 17-40MM, f 4.5, 2000 ISO, 4 and 8 seconds.
