Details:
This is the most breathtaking moment during an auroral outburst and represents the most magnificent form of aurora, known as The Auroral Corona. This type of aurora has an extremely short duration, lasting only a few seconds. It occurs when the aurora develops directly overhead, with auroral beams aligning almost vertically toward the observer, creating this rare crown-like structure centered around the zenith. During peak intensity, I could witness its complete color spectrum with naked eyes. This natural phenomenon originates from collisions between high-energy charged particles from the sun and atoms/molecules in Earth's atmosphere. The vivid green and red glows specifically result from excited oxygen atoms in the upper atmosphere, triggered by collisions with incoming electrons during these intense energy bursts.
