Details:
I went back to the spot where I first photographed the Great Comet of 2007, some 18 years & 11 days later, to capture this latest "Great Comet." With the comet now sitting well above the horizon at the end of astronomical twilight, the tail is much easier to see by eye. It doesn't hit you in the way that McNaught did, but once seen, even Newbies can't help but see the tail's full length. In this case the tail went out past Fomalhaut. The data is on the first pic. This is the data for the other three shots. 2025.01.28 09.21 U.T. 135mm Nikkor lens @ f/3.5. 10 seconds on ISO 6400. 2025.01.28 09.23 U.T. 50mm @ f/2.8. 10 seconds on ISO 6400. 2025.01.28 09.35 U.T. A two shot 400mm @ f/6.3 montage. 15 seconds unguided on ISO 12,800.
