Details:
There has been discussion about the possible disintegrating of Comet C/2024 G3 (ATLAS). These images are from 2025 January 19/20 UT. The color images show a comet that has become less defined, but that could just be because the images are being collected under 2 degrees above a hazy orange twilight horizon looking over the desert southwest of Tucson. The images collected thru a red filter sill show a bright coma and a tail about 0.6 degrees long at a position angle of 100 degrees.
