Details:
The evenings skies near Tucson were hazy on the evening of 2025 January 17 MST which helped create a rich orange twilight sky for Comet C/2024 G3 (ATLAS) to set in. The comet was a lot fainter than on previous evenings, I could not see it with my 50mm f/3.5 Refractor and ASI178MC camera until about 20 minutes after the Sun had set and I was not able to see it with the 8x21 binoculars, undoubtedly the hazy sky also had something to do with observing the comet besides the comet getting fainter. The comet showed a tail 0.4 degrees long at a position angle of 90 degrees. The gif animation is composed of 28 frames showing the comets last 6 minutes (1.1 degrees) before it set behind the Tortolita Mountains northwest of Tucson.
