Details:
The comet C/2024 G3 (ATLAS) reached its perihelion, or closest approach to the Sun, on January 13, 2025. During this event, it was observed by the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO), providing unique images and data. This close pass was a critical moment, as the proximity to the Sun could have caused its nucleus to disintegrate due to intense heat and radiation. However, the comet survived and became one of the brightest objects visible from Earth in 2025, especially from the Southern Hemisphere
