Details:
While testing the MLAstro SHG (125/125 configuration) I couldn't help but be impressed with the size of the filament currently visible. I've been observing the Sun for over 25 years - With no loss of eyesight ;) and this must be the longest filament I've seen. The visible surface of the Sun is about 2.2 million Km in width (half the solar circumference), based on that I think the filament is about 3 million Km in length.!! Certainly a time of solar maxima.... I hope you also get the chance to image this enormous filament. (I think the "gaps" you see are due to the Doppler shift where the filament is in strong upward/ downward motion) Ken
