Details:
Sunspot images from January through November 2024 have been combined into a single composite. The images on the side are for the respective month. The center image is the total image for eleven months. The twelfth month has no sunspots due to lack of data. It shows the evolution of sunspots on the solar surface over eleven months. Solar activity continued to intensify this year. The 25th solar cycle is in full force. The AR3664 sunspot in May was about the size of the Carrington spot 164 years ago. In August 2024, the average monthly sunspot number exceeded 200 for the first time in 23 years, almost double the official estimate. In May and October, strong auroras from solar flares were observed, reaching down to lower latitudes. Due to an unfortunate incident at the SDO (Solar Dynamıcs Observatory), the data flow stopped. Therefore, the daily images I received from there were interrupted and I am sharing this image consisting of eleven months of data. This photo is a joint work of Şenol ŞANLI and Uğur İKİZLER.
