"Rush Hour Satellite Traffic"
November 12, 2024
Albany, Missouri
I've posted several videos on YouTube recently showing the crowded skies full of Satellites as filmed by the Missouri Skies Meteor Cameras. Here is a Star Trail image shot with a DSLR showing the busy traffic along my predawn eastern horizon.
The stars are trailing from lower left to upper right. The brightest star in the image is Arcturas coming up out of the bright streetlight in the foreground left. Any trails that are red or orange and show up as two lines with dots on them are more than likely airplanes. Solid white to blue lines cross-cutting the star trails are more than likely satellites.
A group of recently launched Starlink Satellites can be seen forming the multiple (20+) parallel lines at center. The Starlinks are just coming out of the Earth's shadow heading East.
Displayed here is a full image followed by two crops of the same image.
