Weathering chill winds at Sunset Crater last night trying to help capture sky quality sample images with the Flagstaff Dark Sky Coalition—strong air glow was doing its best to keep meter readings from dipping darker than 21.2 mag/sq. arcsec.

You could easily see the monochrome glow backlighting the trees well before twilight ended. After finishing the overhead shots, I aimed east to see what that luminous haze looked like on camera.
