Details:
In my last post on October 15 the comet was at a magnitude of 2.1-2.6, for my current posting the comet has dimmed considerably to a value of magnitude 4.3. The sky was extremely clear tonight, but the moon’s glow and the distance of the comet had visibility primarily with the camera LCD. It was awesome to follow the comet at the Miller Observatory until it set behind a building at 8:50pm, considerably later than the setting at 7:51 on October 15, due to the rising of the comet in the sky. The comet is in view to the right of the lights of a passing airplane. It almost seems the aircraft will spear the comet. Details: Canon 90D EOS camera, Canon 100-400mm telephoto lens set at 100mm, ISO 800, f=5.6, 4.0 sec. exposure, Gitzo tripod, remote shutter release.
