Wow, what a stunningly beautiful sight! The comet had really diminished in intensity, so I considered myself lucky to have had all the elements fall into place - a clear sky with no haze or clouds, excellent clarity, and without the waning full moon initially washing out the sky. I travelled 100 km west of Montreal into the dark countryside - a Bortle 3 zone.
I quickly positioned my cam using the Stellarium app - the comet was no longer visible to the naked eye. It took a few tries before I finally found and attained the right exposure. Phew! These two were the best.
Still at 95.2% illumination last night, the brightening moon washed the church steeple and a stone cemetery marker with warm light.
Post processing was in PS CC2024. Using Smart Sharpen with Lens Blur selected really made the stars pop!
