Details:
Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS sets in the western twilight on October 12, 2024 at 7:06 pm EDT (an hour or so after sunset) from Northeastern Harbor on the outskirts of Acadia National Park in Maine, USA. This was a combination naked eye & camera reveal comet moment. It took a while of searching in vain before I first spotted an elongated smudge with my naked eye in the darkening twilight. As the comet became more and more visible, the next fun step was to bring it to brighter life with this 10-second camera exposure, a “big reveal” moment. That bright horizontal streak on the left is an airplane light trail.
