Details:
I took a photo of bright auroral patches near the moon. The camera revealed a deep red patch across the area. I drove to an area with a western view, and the red region had stayed visible to the camera. I ended up making panoramas of the western and eastern ends of the red band over a period of hours. A time lapse showed the active aurora dancing and the red swath not moving.
