Details:
Last night's aurora zoomed across the entire sky, with pillars of light, occasional pulses, and what looked like patches of pink and green mist that swirled and faded in and out. The sky was very clear and crisp, no clouds here in our area of the southern Catskill mountains. The aurora was so bright, it easily competed with a waxing moon and continued for hours from about 8pm local time until 11pm--at times the aurora filled the entire sky with 360 views! The attached photo taken with a canon digital camera captures the aurora blazing red and purple the southern horizon, above the waxing moon.
