05:35 NZDT 11/10/2024 Ruataniwha A stunning start to the day here in the Mackenzie Region, New Zealand. I'd woken up just before the alerts started coming through warning of the imminent enhancement to the IMF. Headed out to one of my usual spots that was peacefully calm for the most part and enjoyed the aurora until about 6:15a.m. local when it was eventually overpowered by dawn. Pink hues were very obvious to the naked eye throughout, including about halfway into nautical twilight. Lots of ray activity and plenty of tall blue rays captured in-camera. Batteries are recharged and I'm hopeful for a few more hours under the lights tonight. Image: 21-frame pano, single exposure, 40mm, f/1.4, 2s, ISO 3200.
