Details:
These images are from southeastern Arizona at latitude 32° N and just 50 km north of the Mexican border, from October 7. With a Kp7 storm underway, I shot north to see if the camera would pick up any evidence of the aurora. It did! Early in the evening the camera picked up a red SAR (Stable Auroral Red) arc low across the north. The 360° panorama shows the SAR arc and green airglow around the horizon, and the Milky Way. The single image taken later show some red curtains at their most active about 11:05 pm MDT, again just low in the north. The SAR arc had faded. These are 30- to 40-second exposures at f/2.8 and ISO 3200, so the SAR and aurora were not bright. The SAR arc only showed up on camera.
