Details:
As most of North America waited for the X9 CME to show up Saturday night, the CME had other plans and arrived Sunday morning with a north BZ. By Sunday evening the solar data favored some aurora potential in North America. Around 9:30 pm central time the second substorm hit bringing a very red aurora to Missouri. At one point you could see a very bright red pillar dancing as the substorm was ongoing. At that time I believe the density shot up to about 21.3p/cm.
