Details:
The comet is still very faint here in the Northern United States. This image is from 5:38 CDT on 9/30/2024, just a few minutes after it rose over the Door County peninsula across the bay of Green Bay (Lake Michigan) from our viewing point on the breakwater in Oconto, Wisconsin, USA (N 44.9 lat). Not nearly as spectacular as images from elsewhere in the world that are further south, but we caught it two days in a row from this spot. It was not visible visually, with 10x50 binoculars, or through a 16x spotting scope. It was so faint that it was only visible on the rear display of the camera in 2 of the 20 shots I got of it this morning. So check your images full-size if you tried and don't think you got it - not everyone in the world is getting the same view!! Image is a crop from a full-frame Nikon Z6ii with a Rokinon 135mm. 2-second exposure at f2, ISO 1600, from tripod. Bright light at the bottom is one of the many lighthouses on the peninsula.
