Details:
The comet was rising just before the Sun, just 1.6° in altitude, over Cripple Creek, Colorado. Canon 7D, 260mm lens, 1 second exposure at ISO 1000. Very narrow window of about 15 minutes between its rising and the sky being too bright to see it.
