Witnessing the spring equinox inside the Cosmovitral of Toluca is a spectacle of lights, colors and shadows. The stained glass windows of the botanical garden come to life in the afternoon hours as it fills with warm tones in the west and dark colors in the east. The special moment occurs when the sun becomes concentric with the stained glass window of the man/woman at the western end of the Cosmovitral. The effect gives the appearance that the woman's womb harbors the light of life. Leopoldo Flores is the author of this great space. The gardens and water fountains complement this great spectacle. The camera placed above the water mirror replicates the effect symmetrically.Witnessing the autumnal equinox inside the Cosmovitral is complicated by the rainy season. However, from outside the Cosmovitral, with a little luck, you can experience another light show. The sun setting in the west and a rain shower in the east produce a double rainbow aligned with the Cosmovitral.
