The Moon rising above the Painted Desert of northern Arizona was at least as interesting as the partial Lunar eclipse that occurred about an hour later.

1. Moon rising above the Painted Desert.

2. Multiple refractive layers resulted in interesting shapes of the full Moon.

3. Maximum umbral shadow at 1944 MST.
