Hi Tony What a nice show last night from N. Ireland, but it took a long time to reveal itself. After sunset the stats looked great but then they died off with just an horizon glow on camera. We spent hours watching and waiting in the chilly night air hoping for an outburst. We almost gave up, we actually put away the cameras and about to head home when beams suddenly appeared at 1am, sensing something big was going to happen we grabbed the cameras and ran into a field which had a nice isolated 'fairy tree' and began to take images. The aurora erupted in all its glory, numerous vertical rays reaching 60 degrees high with very obvious red and orange colours to the naked eye. The camera even detected a SARS arc to the W too. This is one image at the storm's peak at 15mm wide angle on full frame ISO6400 F/2.8 at Beaghmore in Co. Tyrone. It was worth the wait!
