Details:
A bright glow was visible in the northern sky from sundown, but approximately 12:10 am, an incredibly bright column formed on the eastern horizon and it swept across the sky towards the west. Almost the entire sky glowed red with swirls of bright green dancing amongst it before it slowly faded in brightness and to a darker/deeper tone of red before disappearing almost entirely by 12:30. The red was quite apparent even to the naked eye. Dim pulses of light could be seen shooting across the sky for more than on hour afterwards.
Details: Nikon D5, 28mm, f/2.8, ISO 2500-4000, 2-4 sec exposures.
