Details:
I've been waiting 30+ years to see the aurora borealis in person! At 40 degrees N latitude, it's not too common in Central PA. The few chances that arise are usually thwarted by cloud cover. Not this time! I was lucky enough to simultaneously see the Perseid meteor shower as well. While the aurora was visible to the naked eye, my Pentax DSLR did a much better job of capturing its splendor. This photo was about a 30 second exposure. Thanks to Spaceweather for the G3 storm alert!
