Details:
Here are a couple spectroheliograms (h-alpha and calcium-H) from this morning. While recording the calcium videos at around 14:00 UT, I noticed a white blob at the edge of the sun on the calcium line spectrum. This was an X1.7 class solar flare right on the edge of the sun. Notice the flare on the right edge of the calcium image, and I also attached a single frame from a calcium-H SHG spectral line video showing the flare on the right side. 102mm f/7 SHG, ASI183mm camera.
