Hi Tony, following up from my last submission with the drone image of last night's NLCs, here's a few DSLR imnages taken with a full camera and 50mm lens. I've been observing NLCs since 2000 and I would rate this as the 2nd best display in my life, rite up there with the unforgettable June 18th/19th 2009 display. I was astonished to witness this show suddenly appear overhead at dusk. I drove out the road to a location called Lough Fea where I spent the night, the NLCS blew my mind with their shadow casting brilliance and incredible structures. At one stage I could see a celestial tornado crossed with herringbone structure. The vibrant electric blue and silver colours were delightful over a bed of orange atmospheric cloud from the hidden sun below the horizon. Structures showing giant whirls twisting, towering vertical spires and even humanoid shapes, it was truly other worldly. Will we get another good one this season?, if the Tonga theory is correct then the chances are good.
