I was taking Helium images with the Sol'Ex when solar activity gradually increased to level M and then exploded to X 1.43! Long-lasting flare since activity remained at level X for 1 hour, from 2:24 p.m. to 3:20 p.m. UT! The flare occurred on the "old" and hyper active spot AR3664 which is just returning for a second trip to our side of the Sun and which has been renumbered AR3697... Here are my results (flare is positioned at ~8 o'clock)... Helium D3 ("Square" image for more contrast), The flare appears here as three mini shiny spots. H-Alpha and Ca K (sorry I don't have any better image in CaK due to lack of time to focus in UV because the Sun was setting at home behind a building). The next few days are definitely going to be interesting!! Details : - SCOPOS apo-ED-refractor D66 F400 F/6.0 + 10 cm extension tubes + "tap" counterweight at the front + IR cut + ND4 on 3D printed ring + sun protection in disposable aluminum cover, - MEADE LXD75 equatorial mount, scan speed used on AUTOSTAR = 4, - Sol'Ex V1, - ASI 174 MM USB3 with 5m amplified extension, Plugable brand, approximate size of SER files = 1 GB, - FireCapture in collaboration with JSolex 2.3.3 doing live observation of the capture directory and automatic processing by it. Script Helium used "MonHeliumScriptClahe1V134Cedric.math" including the square of the image, - IrfanView finalization.
