Details:
As soon as the sun went down, the auroras became visible with a long exposure. They looked like a faint, green arcing glow to the north east. But the real action started around 930 or 10 pm, and lasted until dawn. The faint green arc exploded into pillars of red, purple, yellow, even some hints of blue. The storm was so strong, the red bands were visible looking south, and "interfered" with Milky Way photos. It was a spectacular, and rare event for sure.
