Details:
It was an awesome display of auroras starting as soon as it was dark enough to make them out. There were many colors visible to the camera and at times to the naked eye (as tints to the glowing clouds, beams and curtains). The aurora extended overhead and even south at times of maximum energy. Originally, I was the only photographer at the local reservoir - but as word got out folks started showing up with their cell phones and eventually the crowd reminded me of a Fourth of July fireworks crowd. I got to talk to a bunch of folks about astronomy and reminisce about past aurora displays. Thanks to everyone at NOAA and Spaceweather for helping us all see these beautiful aurora displays!
