Details:
We headed North from Spokane to Chewela just as the sun was setting. Within an hour after sunset a few silver-ish streaks could be detected with the naked eye on the Eastern horizon. 30 minutes later the sky exploded with color! 360 degrees of red and green dancing columns. The cresent moon was setting to the west and we even got a space station flyby! I've only ever seen mild aurora in the Spokane area that appeared to be silver wisps of cloud but tonight the colors and columns could be seen without photo assist.
