Details:
Last night's aurora display was my first one and it was spectacular! I was expecting a barely visible red glow on the horizon, maybe only showing up on my photos. What I saw was a glow extending over half of the sky. In photos, the red glow extended all the way down to the constellation Scorpius! Also in the photos, the land and distant clouds were colored red from the aurora. Colors (red, pink, green) and bands of light were clearly visible with the naked eye. Even the lights of Tonopah, Nevada could not drown out the light from the aurora! It looked like it was dying down around 1:00am but then brilliant and distinct columns of light appeared. Truly a magical experience! Pentax K-70; multiple lenses from 10mm to 16mm; exposures 10s to 50s; ISO from 800 to 3200.
