Details:
Since the beginning of May Jupiter has been tracked setting 3 minutes earlier each day between 5.55 and 5.24 pm to the WNW of Mutare behind some trees on a ridge between Christmas Pass and Transmitter Hill. Due to bright after sunset glare the planet has not been visible to the naked eye but by pointing a camera at right time and in the right direction towards the anticipated setting point it has been possible to capture faint still images or video frames of the barely visible planet disappearing a little bit further to the north behind the same group of trees each evening. On Wednesday 8th May by sheer serendipity a swallow happened to pass in front of the very faint plant and was captured on four consecutive video frames taken at 5.33 pm which have been brightness and contrast enhanced to produce the accompanying animations and montages. The difficulty of seeing Jupiter setting in the sunset glare is evident in the final normal contrast timelapse animation. Camera: Tripod-mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40 in sunset mode.
