There was very nice geomagnetic activity this evening, with a disturbance arriving in the early UTC morning. Here's what my prototype magnetometer has recorded in the NW of Scotland. The first signals of something changing were after 06UTC, with a small but growing disturbance that culminated in the spike around 19:30UTC. Auroras were observed down to central Slovenia (~46°N). The prototype sensor is inside my house, N/S oriented, with its data filtered to cut the artificial spikes caused by nearby electronic equipment. The second plot shows the signal rate of change. At the same time, the third illustrates the overall activity via the colors that we are accustomed to from other aurora monitoring sources. All in all, it was a very nice geomagnetic episode; it was just a bit of a shame that it was cloudy here.
