Totality was awesome! The weather cooperated with just persistent high altitude clouds - mostly cirrus. We were just outside the edge of totality and expected to view a 99% eclipse. I'm very glad to have made the last-minute decision to drive across town into the zone of totality. As the eclipse progressed past first contact the sky began to dim. It was subtle at first and then became more obvious. At totality, the sky took on a weirdly twilight appearance. We were able to see Jupiter and Venus on either side of the Sun. I had a distinct sense of the smell of dew on the grass nearby. The sunset look around the horizon also made an appearance. A great big thanks to all the folks at Highbanks MetroPark!
