Details:
This morning, I woke at 3am to grab some star trails over the Ashokan Reservoir Spillway. The spillway only runs after substantial rain. So I went out and setup my 16mm lens to capture the scene and turn into star trails. When I checked my camera after an hour I noticed a familiar red glow on the horizon. The aurora stuck around for about 20 minutes. It was a faint red on the horizon but unable to be seen with the naked eye.
