Details:
About a month ago, I was playing around with PlanIT Pro and saw that the comet aligned nicely with Eagle Harbor Lighthouse the first week of April.
So I went to there! What I underestimated was just how bright the lighthouse is for such a faint object. (Allthough I will report - I could see it naked eye once my eyes adjusted, but barely!). However, my first night was wasted because I was set on getting the alignment. But it was washed out almost completely by time it got in position.
The following day, I found a spot a few miles up the road. Positioned myself at 304 degrees (same direction as the lighthouse) and shot a tracked sequence of the comet at the time that it would have been over the lighthouse. So that it would be as close as possible to the real deal. :)
Here's the result!
Entire image - both foreground and sky were shot at 400mm with a sony 100-400mm lens. I was about a half mile away from the lighthouse. Since I had to composite this anyways, I close a twilight foreground as it was cleaner.
Comet is a stack of 20 images,30-seconds each.
