Details:
On Sunday 11 Feb 2024 in Gresham, Oregon @ 7:49PM, the sky lit up followed immediately by an earth shaking explosive sound that set off car alarms. This was captured by my good friend who was nice enough to give me permission to upload these NEST security camcorder clips with the hope someone could explain what happened.
I have researched weather conditions that night and discovered this event occurred under partly cloud skies and no lightning strikes occurred over Oregon and Washington during the 24 hours before and after this phenomena. Additionally, there were no fireball reports and no transformer explosions.
From the lit street view, the car shadows and roof across the street suggested the flash originated directly overhead. The fact that the boom and light occurred simultaneously indicates the object was just a few feet above the cameras.
This events has been observed in other areas over the years as noted by doing a YouTube search. In those cases, an explanation was never found.
I have been taking images of the sky for nearly 40 years and have never experienced something like this.
Thoughts? Opinions? It wasn't a UFO.
