Details:
I woke up late on Groundhog Day (Feb 2, 2024). I missed the sunrise. The famous celebrity groundhogs "Punxsutawney Phil" and local favorite "Buckeye Chuck" had already "told" the noisy crowds that there would be a mild second half of Winter (due the overcast sunrise skies that morning). I didn't have thousands of people and clamoring for my shadowy prognostications for the quality of the weather expected for the second half of Winter, so I got to sleep-in past sunrise. I did however follow the tradition (in the US and Canada) of climbing out of my comfortable burrow and squinting up at the Winter sunlight and skies. I didn't notice whether I cast a shadow. I did see the Sun climbing through colorful iridescent Winter skies. I am confidently predicting six more weeks of colorful Winter skies when they're swirling by overhead. According to NOAA, "Punxsutawney Phil" is right about 40% of the time. I'm hoping my prediction is better than that. Wishing you six more weeks of occasionally colorful skies!
