Details:
I´m a long-standing guide in Iceland and during the winter months, I am often out trying to hunt down the Northern Lights, sometimes with groups, sometimes just enjoying it on my own. On this particular evening, I was out with a group of tourists and, as I looked to my left, noticed the amazing sight of polar stratospheric clouds, which occur when the moon is shining so directly into the clouds, it almost appears as if they´re being lit up from within. In my years of Northern Lights tours, I had never gotten to witness this specific phenomenon, which just goes to show you that no matter how much time and experience you have, there are always amazing surprises which reveal themselves when you least expect it.
