Details:
The western skyline above Cody Wyoming has a small pointed peak in the far northwest called Mooncrest Peak. The full moons closes to the Winter Solstice will set on the skyline at sunrise near Mooncrest in November or December, as seen from town . This year's Beaver Moon setting on Mooncrest was a classic apparition of that. Two views, taken on Nikon D5300 dslr camera. The telephoto view was exposed 1/800th sec f/11 at ISO 800 with an equivalent focal length of 750mm on a Sigma 150-500 APO zoom. The wider view was cropped from a frame shot at 135mm eq. on a Nikkor 70-200mm ED zoom , 1/400th at f/11 , again at ISO 800. The red chugwater sandstone feature in the middleground lit by the first sun is called Red Butte.
